Rev. Robin Blair: A Biography
Rev. Robin Blair has been singing in churches and schools since she was five years old. Since then, she has performed in restaurants and sport arenas, on enormous stages and in intimate places of worship. Blair earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Nazareth College (Rochester, NY), an experience she describes as “heaven on earth.” Since then, she has sung with some famous musicians and plenty of children, who are, of course, her most favorite musicians of all.
In 1988, she recorded the first of five CDs for children and considers herself blessed to have used her talents to direct a choir, sing at fundraisers and events nationwide, and provide other avenues for young people to get to know their spiritual transcendent selves through music.
Blair’s career has taken a winding path – executive director of a day care center, host of the Cable Value Network (now QVC), producer/host for Radio AAhs, the nation’s only children’s radio network; and co-creator/producer of a puppet/live action television show for Animal Planet.
Answering a call to ministry, she went on to earn a master’s degree in theology and the arts and master’s of divinity equivalency from the United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis, Minn.). Now, she serves as clergy in the United Methodist Church. These unique and wonderful experiences have fed Blair’s passion for service and social justice, as well as her desire to nurture the family and the arts as faith expressions.
More recently, Blair has drawn on her diverse background to speak to community groups, congregations and parents across the country about the importance of keeping faith alive amidst the constant buzz of popular culture. Now a respected authority on media literacy, Blair travels the country sharing ways to live a faith-filled family life in the media world.
She also spreads her message as a web site and podcast producer for Faith and Values Media (www.families.faithstreams.com), where she offers support to parents and families called to a faith-centered lifestyle in a secular culture. In addition, Blair continues the music that supports her ministry, with a sixth original CD slated for release in 2008.
